AutoChain in FL Studio

Send your kick to AutoChain’s sidechain through the FL Studio Mixer and plugin wrapper settings.

  1. 01

Load AutoChain on the bass channel

Open the Mixer (F9). Make sure your bass or 808 is routed to a Mixer track. Click an empty effect slot on that track and add AutoChain from the plugin picker under VST3.
If your kick is still only in the Channel Rack, right-click its channel header and choose Channel routing > Route to mixer track so it has its own Mixer channel too.

  2. 02

Sidechain the kick to the bass channel

In the Mixer, select the channel that carries your kick drum. Right-click the small routing arrow at the bottom of the bass channel strip and choose Sidechain to this track. This sends the kick to AutoChain’s sidechain input without mixing it into the bass channel’s main signal.

  3. 03

Enable the sidechain input in the plugin wrapper

Open the AutoChain window. Click the Wrapper settings button in the top-left corner of the plugin panel (plug and gear icon), then open the Processing tab. Under Connections, enable 2. Sidechain and select your kick drum’s Mixer track number from the dropdown. Close the wrapper settings to return to AutoChain.
